Russian Deputy PM says diesel supply deal with US is being negotiated
Following a call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia and the US are negotiating a diesel supply deal. Russia plans to supply over 300,000 tons immediately, with further shipments in the coming months, according to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
Russia and the United States are currently negotiating a contract for diesel supply, following an announcement by US President Donald Trump about a deal reached with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a phone call.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak confirmed on Wednesday that discussions are underway between the Russian Ministry of Energy and the US Department of Energy to formalize the agreement.
Trump stated on social media that Russia will immediately supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel to the American and global markets, with an additional 500,000 tons planned for November and 1 million tons thereafter. He also mentioned a further 3 million tons to be delivered within a short period.
This development comes weeks after the US Congress passed legislation imposing substantial tariffs on top importers of Russian oil and natural gas, with exceptions for countries reducing their imports significantly.
