Joseph Kony, the Ugandan warlord and leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), remains active despite being on the run for more than 20 years.

In recent months, the eastern Central African Republic has experienced several attacks attributed to the LRA, a militia notorious for massacres and mass abductions of children during the 1990s and 2000s.

Kony has been wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for over two decades. Leonie von Braun, the ICC’s lead investigator on the Kony case, confirmed the group’s resurgence during an interview with France 24.
