Ethiopia’s Beta Israel community, one of the world’s oldest Jewish groups believed to descend from the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon, is still seeking visas to Israel.

Between the 1970s and 1990s, under Ethiopia’s Communist regime, Beta Israel faced persecution. Israel responded with dramatic airlifts—Operation Moses and Operation Solomon—evacuating over 20,000 Ethiopian Jews.

However, a few thousand members of the community remained in Ethiopia and now dream of obtaining Israeli visas to reunite with their brethren.
